2018 was an exciting year at Bittrex as we continued to advance the blockchain industry by fostering innovation, incubating new and emerging technology, and driving transformative change.
As we begin 2019 – our 5th anniversary – we wanted to look back at our 2018 highlights.
Expanded our global footprint
We continued to reinforce our role as a global leader in the blockchain revolution by expanding our partnerships and furthering blockchain’s ability to provide groundbreaking solutions around the world. In 2018, we launched Bittrex International which combines a streamlined token approval process with Bittrex.com’s cutting-edge trading technology for non-U.S. customers.

Rolled out U.S. dollar (fiat) trading
Since late May, we’ve been phasing in US dollar (USD) markets for our customers. This has allowed us to ramp up markets, processes, and systems through a measured approach to ensure the highest level of service possible. At the end of 2018, eligible customers in international markets and 30+ U.S. states have been approved to participate. We’ve added 15 token markets to USD trading and expect continued expansion in 2019.

We continued to support building a secure, fully-compliant environment for blockchain that encourages innovation, economic growth, and U.S. leadership in the industry, and that’s why we proactively engaged in discussions with regulators regarding how this may be accomplished with thoughtful policymaking.

Our team put a lot of time and effort into evaluating new blockchain projects and listing them on our trading platform. In 2018, we reviewed over 2500 tokens for consideration. We listed 58 tokens/coins - 50 on Bittrex.com and 8 on Bittrex International.
