Statement on the Bitcoin Cash (BCH) network protocol upgrade and the proposed Bitcoin SV (BSV) fork

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) will be undergoing a network protocol upgrade on November 15, 2018 at approximately 8:40am PT (4:40pm UTC) via the Bitcoin ABC full node implementation.

Bitcoin SV [BSV] is a proposed fork of Bitcoin Cash [BCH] scheduled to occur on November 15, 2018 at approximately 8:40am PT (4:40pm UTC) via the Bitcoin SV full node implementation.

Bitcoin SV is considered a "contentious" hard fork which may result in a chain split. There is also no replay protection present so Bittrex must undertake extra measures to ensure that in the event of a chain split, user tokens are preserved on both chains. There may be delays in Bitcoin Cash deposits and withdrawals for some time due to these extra measures.

The "BCH" ticker will remain the Bitcoin ABC chain before the hard fork block. Bittrex will observe the Bitcoin Cash network for a period of 24 to 48 hours to determine if a chain split has occurred and the outcome.

To provide the best experience for our customers, Bittrex will take all reasonable steps to ensure that customer funds can be preserved on both chains. Bittrex will make all reasonable attempts to credit our users BSV chain split tokens. We will not recover incorrectly made cross chain deposits under any circumstance due to the lack of replay protection.

Bittrex will close deposits and withdrawals of Bitcoin Cash on November 14, 2018 at 10am PT (6pm UTC), the day prior to the BCH on-exchange snapshot. If any BCH deposits you had sent to Bittrex are not settled (e.g. marked as pending) by November 14, 2018 at 10am PT (6pm UTC) you will not be credited with BSV chain split tokens. The wallet will remain closed until the hard fork block is complete and it is deemed safe to open. Trading will remain active during this time.

If you have a Bitcoin Cash (BCH) balance of more than 0.01 BCH on Bittrex during the BCH on-exchange snapshot around November 15, 2018 at 8:40am PT (4:40pm UTC), you will be additionally credited the equivalent amount of BSV chain split tokens on a 1:1 basis. i.e. 1 BCH on Bittrex held during the on-exchange snapshot will get you 1 chain split token. BCH held on orders will also be credited. Only the BCH held on your account is eligible for chain split tokens. The Bittrex BCH on-exchange snapshot completion will be Tweeted from the @BittrexExchange Twitter account.
